We’ve been getting a lot of questions lately about whether Tonto’s Fist is an “AI band.” The answer is in the archives.
This video shows the original 1990s cassette demo for “Dirty Mojo,” complete with the lyric inlay and the Panasonic Slim Line recorder we used back in the day. We filmed this on an old 8mm camcorder to capture the exact vibe of the era when these songs were born.
Beyond the Algorithm
While we use modern tools and AI to restore these recordings, the soul of the music is entirely human. These tracks were written, arranged, and performed by my brother Tim, our bandmate Matt, and myself in a garage over 30 years ago.
We spent years hiring gig musicians and using cutting-edge software to reconstruct these “unlistenable” tapes because we wanted to fulfill my brother Tim’s dream of being a rockstar—a dream that was cut short by his battle with Huntington’s Disease.
